New 23 Mar 3. Thanks for the response. I just tried plugging my headphones into my laptop and the sound comes out fine, however the sound coming from the desktop is still distorted. Now when I plug my headphones in again, the sound is missing half of the frequencies rendered unintelligible and is very quiet. New 24 Mar 4.

Distorted Audio – soundcard broken?
You seem to know more about this than I do. Just a day ago I accidentally yanked my headphone cord while it was in the socket the one on the back of my desktop.

New 23 Mar 3. I think my audio driver is realtek. So do you think it’s the sound card that’s messed up, or is sudio way the computer is processing the sound? I have a socket on the front of my desktop as well, and when plugged in from there I still have the same problem. Any help is appreciated. This broke the plastic around the edge. My Audiio Computer Type: Considering the issue is happening both when using the rear port and the front port Im betting that you damaged the connector on the headphones and not the sound card.

Jiggling the cord in the socket will change some of the frequencies and the pan, but it doesn’t fix the problem.
